Christmas is approaching, which always poses a problem: what to buy? Audio fans, here’s some help: the best headphone alternatives under $100,000.
Is it possible to get a good model of wireless earbuds, with great sound, excellent connectivity, long battery life and comfortable design, for a figure five digits? Based on our experience in evaluating audio products – the specialty of the house in the Practical Tests section – we can safely say yes.
There is not one, but several very reliable wireless earbuds capable of satisfying the requirements of almost any listener, and all for less than 100,000 pesos. This is our selection.
Edifier W240TN: Advanced technology in a practical and economical format

In an expanding market with increasingly complex brands and models, Edifier chooses to combine advanced technology and simplicity. The proof is the W240TN, a pair of headphones wireless devices with a particular piston-shaped design, which has features the last generation.
One of them is Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, the most recent to date, which guarantees greater stability and fluidity in data transfer, fewer interruptions and lower battery consumption. Here you find up to 34 hours of battery life and the possibility of fast charging which allows you to get two additional hours in just 10 minutes.
This model also has very good active noise cancellation (ANC), although more surprising is its ambient sound mode, adjustable to six levels from the Edifier Connect application. This not only allows you to pay attention to what’s going on around you, but you can even have a face-to-face conversation without having to remove the headphones from your ears.
The IP55 certification, for resistance to dust and humidity, makes this model a good ally for sports activities and Outside. It also offers a gaming mode, which reduces latency to better synchronize image and sound when you get caught up in video games.
And how does it sound? Here’s an important point: the W240TN does not support high-resolution codecs. However, this doesn’t matter if your music streaming source is Spotify, the free version of YouTube, or another platform that doesn’t offer lossless audio, as is the case for the vast majority of users worldwide. .
Despite this, this model surprises with excellent sound quality. In fact, each earphone incorporates a Tweeter (6 millimeters) and a woofer (10 mm), which are responsible for independent processing of high and low frequencies. The result is a clear, powerful and super musical sound.
Added to all this is a more than friendly usability, which makes this model a very good alternative for those who are only looking for good company for their daily activities and wherever they do them. We at Practical gave it four stars out of five.
Xiaomi Redmi Buds 4 Pro: Simple but effective and with a great battery

After a somewhat basic appearance in terms of design and materiality, these TWS (True wireless stereo) from Xiaomi hides some advanced features. For example, the efficiency of Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity or compatibility with the LDAC codec, which allows it to operate at transmission speeds of up to 990 kbps, as well as with audio resolutions of 96 kHz/24 bit and more.
To this it adds dual dynamic drivers, consisting of a 10-millimeter aluminum alloy diaphragm and a 6-millimeter titanium diaphragm. The result is a pleasant sound, with a very good balance in terms of bass, mid and high frequencies, with some masking, but minimal.
It has active noise cancellation adjustable in three levels, from the Xiaomi application, which works with an artificial intelligence processor to adapt to different contexts: Being in a library is not the same as being in a library. being in a supermarket or on a busy street with traffic jams. This ensures greater efficiency and less energy consumption. Its “Transparent” mode, with which it exacerbates the ambient sound, also works very well.
It has some areas for improvement, such as the touch control – which in our experience was a bit crude, making it difficult to use – or the 360º sound, whose promise of immersion is not fully delivered. However, it has many other advantages, such as a long-lasting battery, with up to 36 hours of autonomy, which make this model a very good option for daily use. We gave it four stars in our review.
Edifier W820NB Plus: high sound quality and super powerful ANC

Another great goal from Edifier and, in my opinion, even better than the previous one. This type of model on the ear, combines a comfortable and lightweight design, with very high quality sound. Unlike the W240TN, the W820NB Plus is Hi-Res certified, as it is compatible with the high-resolution LDAC codec.
It features 40 millimeter drivers, coated in titanium, which enable exquisite clarity in the high frequencies and interesting depth in the bass, for an extremely satisfying result in the musical experience.
It has super powerful active noise cancellation, which is also enhanced by a passive type – just put these headphones on to feel the isolation it generates -, producing an impenetrable field for noisy environments: even hammers and the neighbor’s drills won’t be able to interrupt it. your attention. . Something that also works very well in calling and video calling functions.
The W820NB Plus’s battery is another notable feature, as it offers nothing more and nothing less than up to 49 hours of battery life. One of the most powerful we have tested.
This is an ideal model for those who listen to music from services like Tidal, Amazon Music, Deezer, Apple Music, and others that offer high-resolution audio. We gave it five stars in our review. And be careful, they are at a very reduced price on the Edifier site.
Huawei Freebuds 5i: Design, usability and autonomy

This is the latest version of Huawei’s most classic series. And it must be said that it presents a very nice evolution compared to its predecessor. It features a striking space-tinged design, particularly its charging case, which is also comfortable and lightweight in its fit to the ears.
It highlights very good usability in touch control, thanks to a super precise sensor in touch detection. And here’s a detail: in addition to the classic options for starting or stopping playback, fast forwarding or rewinding a track, you can control your smartphone’s camera from the touch control. A function that those who appreciate it selfies. Two taps on the back of the handset and you better say “whiskey“.
They have Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification, due to their compatibility with the LDAC codec, which represents one of the many developments compared to the Freebuds 4i. They are also composed of a 10 millimeter dynamic driver, to which is added a polymer diaphragm, which results in greater power and depth in the low frequencies. This may be something that fans of urban and electronic music will appreciate. However, it must be said that this power has an effect which is not entirely satisfactory and that is that it colors or masks the sound, robbing it of its naturalness.
What is clearly a notable feature is its active noise cancellation, which largely meets the goal of reducing environmental interruptions. Added to this is the “Attention” mode, which highlights ambient sound so you can be more attentive to what is happening around you.
That it has Bluetooth 5.2 and that its battery offers autonomy of up to 28 hours – and a fantastic fast charge that provides 4 hours in just 15 minutes – are other details of the evolution of this good model, to which we We gave it four stars.
Sony WF-C700N: Onderos, with good sound and ANC

These headphones from Sony, offer a striking design in pastel tones and a 90s look. Its fit is firm and covers the entire shell of the ear, without generating that uncomfortable feeling of encapsulation that some similar models cause, even of the same brand.
Like Edifier’s W240TN, the WF-C700N lacks touch sensors and instead relies on buttons on the back of each earbud. A detail which, in my opinion, does not detract from anything at all. On the contrary, the “click” that occurs when pressing it offers much more certainty than that offered by other models with touch controls.
Regarding audio, this model is not compatible with high-resolution codecs, despite the fact that Sony is the one that holds the patent for LDAC. But, as we commented in the case of the W240TN, this should not pose big problems for most users of streaming.
In this line, the WF-C700N “sounds” rather well: defined bass, good clarity in the high frequencies, in addition to providing a significant spatiality, which allows the instruments not to appear all jumbled together. Perhaps those looking for a more natural sound have some qualms with the coloring that Sony usually offers in this area. Especially the DSEE Extreme feature, which seeks to repair audio files in lossy formats – like mp3 – using processors with artificial intelligence.
They have good active noise cancellation which, while it doesn’t completely cancel out ambient sound, reduces it considerably. A function that also works well during calls, allowing clear and smooth communication. Less satisfying is the ambient modality which, when processed, results in an artificial and somewhat uncomfortable sound sensation.
The battery is another aspect that leaves something to be desired: a maximum of 15 hours of charge. Not much compared to what the other models on the list offer. However, the WF-C700N remains a good entry-level alternative to the TWS world.
