Carlos Queiroz leaves his post as head coach Qatar national team football, reports the press service of the Qatar Football Association (QFA).
As reported, the contract with the 70-year-old Portuguese specialist was terminated by mutual agreement.
— QFA expresses its sincere gratitude to Queiroz for his dedication throughout his tenure. We wish him the best in his future career,” the statement said.
In November, the Qatar national team defeated the teams of Afghanistan (8: 1) and India (3: 0) in the second round of the qualifying tournament for the 2026 World Cup. The Qataris are leading the group A with six points.
Queiroz took over the team in February, signing a contract until the 2026 World Cup.
Queiroz previously coached the national teams of Portugal, Iran, Egypt, Colombia and Real Madrid and worked as an assistant coach at Manchester United.
