The defender of the national team of Everton and Ukraine spoke about the injury that prevented him from opening at the club.
Vitaly Mikolenko was forced to play with an injury for a year and a half, which is why he could not fully express himself. Everton. The defender of the Ukrainian national team spoke about this in an interview with the press service of the Liverpool club.
According to the footballer, he only got injured after moving to Goodison Park. The problem was solved only in the summer of this year, and Mikolenko’s development was connected to it.
“I was in discomfort for about 18 months.
My hip has been hurting since that workout. I had just joined the club when it happened and, of course, I wanted to play. Fortunately I was still able to play and overcome the problem, but I couldn’t do some rotations and didn’t have full range of motion.
I missed the end of last season because of another injury, I had problems with my quadriceps, but when I reported to the national team, the problem with my hip got worse. In general, I experienced discomfort for about 18 months, then I turned to a specialist who really helped me. As a result, I missed pre-season training in the summer, but now the problem is completely solved.
It’s always hard to miss pre-season because you have to catch up to other players’ level. After the pre-season, I gradually returned to training, but missed the first four games due to the end of my rehabilitation and the fact that I was out of shape.
At the beginning of the season it was not easy for me, I had to be patient. We didn’t start this season well, and it’s a shame that I couldn’t help the team, but now I feel myself again, and I also feel that this is now my football family,” said Mykolenko.
Let’s remember the former coach Everton praised Mikolenko for his progress this season.
