Ozdoev spoke about the failure of the transfer to the Moscow club last summer

Midfielder Magomed Ozdoev said he could leave “Zenith” and move to the Moscow club last summer, but did not find an agreement with the management of “blue-white-blue”.

Ozdoev decided not to renew the deal with Zenit, which expired on June 30, and became a free agent.

“I wanted to leave once, last summer. There was even an agreement with the Moscow club. But Zenit management said they wouldn’t let me go. Alexander Ivanovich (Medvedev) wanted me to stay,” Ozdoev said in an interview with Sport24.

He also noted that the financial issue is not a priority for him when choosing a new team.

— It all depends on the project and the tasks the team sets itself. The question of money is important, but it is not the main one. Zenit is a club that regularly played in the Champions League, won the RPL – the players had the chance to earn money. I earned them, but I didn’t receive them. If I only looked at the money, I would calmly pack my things and leave for warmer climes. I have offers with very good conditions from Arab clubs. But so far I don’t see myself there,” the midfielder said.

Ozdoev has been playing for Zenit since 2018, as part of the St. Petersburg team, he became a four-time Russian champion and owner of the Russian Cup. Last season, the 29-year-old scored 2 goals and made one assist in 16 games.
