Russian Football Union (RFS) will not be excluded from membership International Football Federation (FIFA), despite the desire of some countries, said the honorary head of the RFU Vyacheslav Koloskov .
Earlier, FIFA and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) suspended Russian national teams from tournaments due to the situation in Ukraine. The RFU filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). In early July, the CAS began to examine the merits of the RFU’s claims.
– There is no threat of exclusion from the RFU from FIFA. The congress brings together representatives of 211 national football associations. We were opposed by 35 countries. Even if a dozen more will be added, it will not change anything. There is no risk. The fact is that they want to exclude Russia again, guided by political motives. And the charter of the International Football Federation clearly stipulates under what conditions a national federation can lose its affiliation. So the initiators of this provocation have no chance, Koloskov told RT.
At the FIFA Congress, which was held on March 31 in Doha, the question of the abolition of the RFU was not discussed.
