Shakhtar officially ended cooperation with head coach De Zerbi

Igor Jovichevich should replace the Italian at Shakhtar

Miner officially announced the termination of cooperation with the head coach Roberto De Zerbi.

The decision was made by mutual agreement of the parties. The 43-year-old Italian has led the Pitmen since May 2021.

Under the guidance of the Italian specialist, Shakhtar won the Ukrainian Super Cup and qualified for the Champions League group stage twice.

Together with De Zerbi, the entire Italian coaching staff left the Donetsk club: Davide Possanzini, Vincenzo Teresa, Markattillo Marchattili, Agostino Tibaudi, Michele Cavalli, Giorgio Bianchi, Paolo Bianco.

Igor Yovichevich, whose last job is Dnepr-1, should replace De Dzerbi at Shakhtar. The Croatian was offered a contract for a period of two years.

The last championship of Ukraine was ended ahead of schedule due to the attack of Russian troops. Shakhtar ended the season in first place and advanced to the Champions League group stage.

The start of the new season of the Ukrainian Premier League is tentatively scheduled for August 23.
