Former striker “Spartacus” Valery Kechinov believes that after the appointment of Tomas Amaral as sporting director, the club must rely more on Russian players.
On Friday, Spartak announced the appointment of Amaral as sports director. The Portuguese will start working on January 1st. In this position, he will replace the Englishman Paul Ashworth, who will serve as technical director of Spartak.
— I always say that you have to pay attention to Russian footballers above all. Among them, there are also talented and skilled players. But unfortunately, in most cases they simply go unnoticed, preferring to rely on foreign players. Take Meleshin, for example: if he had received playing time and trust from the head coach more often, he would have become a quality striker,” Kechinov told RT.
