Russian soccer players don’t go to Europe because there’s no demand, Ozdoev says

Russian football players are not moving to European clubs due to lack of interest from teams, they are skeptical about signing contracts with Russians, says ex-midfielder “Zenith” Magomed Ozdoev.

– Many are sure that Russian footballers do not leave for Europe because of more comfortable salaries in their home country.

– That’s not true. They don’t go there because there is no demand. In many European leagues there is a limit – only three people from non-EU countries can play in the first team. Of these, one, conditionally, is Argentinian, the second is Brazilian, and the third is from the Senegalese national team. Europe has a different market. Russian football players want to play in Europe, but there they hardly look in our direction, they are generally skeptical. And that didn’t happen this year, but for a long time,” Ozdoev said in an interview with Sport24.

He also said he would be ready to play for Real Madrid on a salary of two hundred thousand euros per year.

Ozdoev left Zenit in May after the contract expired and is in free agent status. The 29-year-old footballer previously played for Lokomotiv Moscow, Rubin Kazan, Terek Grozny (now Akhmat), played 35 games for the Russian national team.
