The forward is having a bad season, and the separation for the Bulls will be painless
Attack RB Leipzig Timo Werner close to returning to English Premier League. Interested in the services of a forward West Ham.
The German club is ready to part with the 27-year-old forward as early as January 2024. This season, Timo does not have a place in the starting lineup, losing competition to Lois Openda, Benjamin Sheshko and Yussuf Poulsen.
Let us remind you that Werner was bought by Chelsea from Leipzig in 2020 for 53 million euros. At the London club, the German did not play as productively as expected from him – 10 goals and 13 assists in two seasons.
Werner returned to Leipzig in the summer of 2022 for only 20 million euros. He played well last season – 16 goals and six assists in 40 matches (while Timo missed the 2022 World Cup due to injury). However, in the current campaign he has appeared on the field only 14 times (scoring twice), averaging less than half an hour per match.
It was previously reported that West Ham plans to enter the market in the winter in search of a goal-scoring striker – in particular, David Moyes’ team is credited with an interest in the Ukrainian Artem Dovbik.
The Hammers are in sixth place in the Premier League, 10 points behind leaders Arsenal. It is with the Gunners that Moyes’ team will play next Thursday, December 28.
RB Leipzig entered the winter break in the Bundesliga in fourth position (nine points behind the leader, Bayer). Marco Rose’s team will play their next match at home against Eintracht Frankfurt on January 13.
