Nunez’s goal in the opening game was the winner
Liverpool defeated Burnley in the away match of the 19th round nuclear submarine – 2:0.
The favorite quickly took the lead – Darwin Nunez scored a technical low shot. Before the break, the Reds were in complete control of the game, but were unable to convert any of their many chances.
In the second half the game changed. Burnley became emboldened and created tension in front of Alisson’s goal. Vincent Kompany’s team could have scored, but Johan Gudmundsson made a good chance.
Subsequently, Jurgen Klopp’s team again took the game, and at the end of the match they buried the intrigue – the fresh Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota realized the goal.
The victory took Liverpool into first place with 42 points. Arsenal are two points behind with a game in hand. Today, Aston Villa can catch up with the Merseysiders if they beat Manchester United away. Burnley remained second to last.
The outsider will play the next match on December 30 against the same Aston Villa. Liverpool will host Newcastle on January 1.
