Dmitry Cheryshev: “After leaving Santa Coloma, I still communicate with Milstein”

Former head coach of Andorran team Santa Coloma Dmitry Cheryshev said he still communicates with the club owner Dan Milstein .

About Cheryshev’s departure from “Saint Coloma” was announced on November 20. The Russian coach took over as manager of the Andorran team last summer and also served as the club’s executive vice-president of sports operations. On Friday, Shinnik announced the appointment of Cheryshev as head coach.

— You talked a lot about how the option with the Santa Coloma club was born, you talked about the Andorran championship. Can you say: did you think about this proposal for a long time, was it a difficult decision for you?

— When the offer arrived, I was in Spain. I received a call from friends of mine who know the club president, Dan Milstein, closely. They recommended me because Milstein needed someone who spoke Spanish and Russian to communicate and trust him. He called me and told me he was flying to Andorra in a week. I got there, we spoke with him before all the meetings to specifically register the club in his name. We talked and almost immediately shook hands. The decision was made quite quickly.

— Milstein is the main agent for Russian hockey players in the NHL. What kind of person do you remember him as? Would you go to the USA if he invited you to an American project?

“After I left, we still communicate with him.” Milstein is a very busy man, but when I write to him he finds free time to call back. We have a great relationship with him. Dan is a wonderful person. If I received an offer from him to work in the United States, I would definitely consider it. It’s true because working with him is a pleasure. First of all, because of trust. This is the most important thing that he possesses in his work with people,” Cheryshev said, as quoted by Metaratings.ru.
