African Football Confederation (CAF) on its official page presented the top ten contenders for the title of the best player of the year in Africa.
African Player of the Year contenders:
- Riyad Mahrez (forward – Algiers, Manchester City);
- Carl Toko Ekambi (forward – Cameroon, Lyon);
- Vincent Abubakar (forward – Cameroon, Al-Nasr);
- Sebastien Allais (forward – Côte d’Ivoire, Ajax);
- Mohamed Salah (forward – Egypt, Liverpool);
- Nabi Keita (midfielder – Guinea, Liverpool);
- Ashraf Hakimi (defender – Morocco, PSG);
- Edouard Mendy (goalkeeper – Senegal, Chelsea);
- Kalidou Koulibaly (defender – Senegal, Napoli);
- Sadio Mane (forward – Senegal, Bavaria).
The African Player of the Year 2022 award will be presented at a special ceremony on July 21, 2022 in Rabat, Morocco.
