The first match of the Champions League selection between Dynamo and Fenerbahce will be played on July 20 in Lodz
Defender Dynamo Alexander Karavaev shared his expectations from the confrontation with the Turkish Fenerbahce in qualifying Champions League.
Karavaev noted the strength of the Fenerbahce players on an individual basis and the work with the team of the Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus.
“So far we have had one theoretical lesson, during which we got acquainted with the opponent. We watched the control game between Fenerbahce and Partizan. I can say that this is an organized team, where the handwriting of the coach, with whom we crossed paths last season in the Champions League, when he was in charge of Benfica, is noticeable.
“The Fenerbahce players are very strong individually, especially in attack, and they work well on the pitch. Therefore, we are preparing very carefully for the confrontation with the Turkish team.”
“I spent half a year in Fenerbahce and played little. However, this period left pleasant memories, because Fenerbahce has ardent fans who have been rooting for their home club since childhood. This team has a very strong support that we can feel.”
“I think that the draw brought together the two strongest teams in this round of qualification – Dynamo and Fenerbahce. Because it will be a very difficult game. But we have every chance to go further, because we are very carefully approaching this confrontation.
Note that the Turkish club may strengthen in the near future with strong performers. For example, Real Madrid forward Mariano Diaz, PSG midfielder Danilo Pereira, experienced ex-Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani and Leipzig forward Alexander Serlot.
Recall that Fenerbahce is a rival of Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League qualification. The teams will play matches of the second qualifying round on July 20 in Lodz, Poland and on July 27 in Istanbul.
