Shawn Porter: Tyson is a showman, he doesn’t want a fight that requires him to train hard for

The American believes that Tyson is not particularly interested in a fight with Usik

Former two-time world welterweight champion Shawn Porter doubted the likelihood of a fight for the absolute title between the holder of the WBC heavyweight belt Tyson Fury and WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO champion Alexander Usik.

According to Sean, the problem is the Briton, who no longer wants really tough fights, and can “jump off”, even despite all the agreements.

“You look at a guy like Tyson Fury, a guy who’s been on this track so many times, and I think the fighter gets to the point where he sees he’s got his toughest night ahead of him and he’s like, Man. I’ve had enough bad nights like this, I’m not going to have another one.”

“So, even though the fight is signed and announced, what we know about Tyson Fury is that he is a showman and that he prefers things to be his way or not at all.”

“Personally, I don’t think that’s the energy he wants to bring to the boxing ring. That’s why he wanted the fight against Francis Ngannou because those are the fights he’s looking for. He’s looking for something that will bring him money and recognition, those evenings for which he no longer has to train hard.”

A month ago, Porter expressed the opinion that an opponent like Usyk would force the “Gypsy King” to show “the best version of himself.”

The Usik-Fury fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion will officially take place on February 17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Initially, the fight was planned to be organized on December 23 in Riyadh. However, it later became clear that Tyson would not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with Francis Ngannou at the end of October.

Fury defeated Ngannou via split decision. It was reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.

Usik fought his last fight on August 27 in Wroclaw, Poland. The Ukrainian knocked out Daniel Dubois in the 9th round and defended his championship titles.
