The symbolic team includes five representatives from Manchester City and three from Bayern
International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) announced a symbolic 2023 national team.
It included Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi, Englishmen Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane, who are having a phenomenal season, French national team leader Kylian Mbappe and Norwegian super-scorer Erling Haaland. Also on the top 11 list are four more of Erling’s Manchester City teammates.

- Lionel Messi (Paris Saint-Germain/Inter Miami; Argentina)
- Harry Kane (Tottenham/Bayern; England)
- Erling Haaland (Manchester City; Norway)

Only five players in this team have retained their places from last year – Davis, De Bruyne, Messi, Haaland and Mbappe.
IFFHS continues to build on last year’s results. Thus, Erling Haaland was recognized as the best player of 2023 according to IFFHS. Another Man City player, Ederson, received the best goalkeeper award. Bellingham became the best young football player.
Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola was recognized as the best club coach of the past year, and Argentinean Lionel Scaloni was named the best national team coach (for the second year in a row).
