Botafogo hires Venezuelan standout

Following a suggestion from its head of scouting, Botafogo agreed to hire a prominent Venezuelan, who has experience in Brazilian football

The reformulation of the cast of Botafogo continues at full steam, and the new signing for the 2024 season is the Venezuelan striker, Jefferson Savarino. With a good run in Brazilian football, Atlético-MGthe player has already accepted the values ​​offered by Fogão and an announcement is expected in the next few days.

The 27-year-old player played for Galo between 2020 and 2021, with great emphasis on his second year, when he was a key player in the Brazilian Championship and Copa do Brasil titles. After that, the Venezuelan returned to Real Salt Lake Citya team that had already played in 2017, where it was until now.

Savarino will be definitively acquired by Botafogo, which included the head of scout, Alessandro Brito, as the main hiring enthusiast. After that, the suggestion was passed on to John Textorowner of SAF, and to the technician Tiago Nuneswho approved the athlete’s arrival.

In addition to the clubs already mentioned, Savarino also has good experience in the Venezuelan national team, where he has been called up constantly since 2017. To date, he has played 36 games with his national team’s shirt, with three goals scored, as he is not usually an absolute starter.

In the last MLS season, the striker played 34 matches, scoring 11 goals in the period, seeing his team eliminated in the first phase of the competition’s playoffs. Before that, Savarino also had good numbers for Atlético-MG, where he participated in 99 games, having distributed 19 assists and scored 21 goals.
