An experienced wingback will not help Blancos in the Super Cup
Another personnel hole in the Madrid roster Real Madrid – the right back was injured in training Lucas Vazquez.
The examination revealed an injury to the semitendinosus muscle of the right thigh. Surgery is not required, but recovery will take about three weeks.
Thus, Vazquez is guaranteed to miss not only the cup clash against Arandina on January 6 (Ancelotti planned to release the Spaniard from the first minutes), but also the Blancos match(es) in the Spanish Super Cup. On January 10, Real will face Atlético Madrid in the semi-finals, and if successful, will play in the final four days later.
This season, Lucas has appeared on the field 20 times, scored one goal and provided three assists.
Vazquez joined Thibaut Courtois, David Alaba and Eder Militao in the Royal Club hospital (these three will not return soon), as well as Ferland Mendy, who will return to action in the next few days.
Most likely, Lucas will return to the game for the away match of the 22nd round of Primera League against Las Palmas on January 28.
