Ruslan Malinovsky’s club was several days late in submitting the declaration
Genoa risks receiving a fine of up to three points for tax filing violations.
The Griffins were reported to be several days late in reporting in November 2023. From a financial point of view, the club is doing well, there are no violations and the situation is stable. However, the procedure was violated; regulatory authorities have already begun an investigation.
There are several options for developing the situation. One of the likely ones is that the club will cooperate, admit a procedural violation and receive a certain monetary fine. There is a more strict option, in which the team, in addition to a fine, faces deprivation of one to three points in Serie A. Controlling authorities can also accept the club’s explanations and leave the episode without punishment.
Note that Genoa received a -1 point penalty in Serie B last season for financial violations. The current situation is different in that last time the club had real reporting problems. At the same time, the deprivation of one point did not prevent the Griffins from taking second place and returning to Serie A.
Genoa is in 12th place in Serie A with 21 points. The team of Ukrainian Ruslan Malinovsky will host Torino in the next match on January 13.
