Robert Garcia: I wouldn’t be surprised if Joshua beats Usyk in third fight

The previous two meetings ended in victories for the Ukrainian

Famous trainer Robert Garcia, ex-mentor of former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua stated that AJ is capable of defeating the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO title holder Alexandra Usika.

“Joshua put in an incredible performance, especially against a tough guy. [Отто Валлина]. He performed great. The main thing is his activity. Joshua looks very confident. Previously, he was afraid to give free rein to his hands, but thanks to his activity he performed well.”

“I have always said that Joshua is one of the most talented fighters in the heavyweight division next to Usyk, since Alexander beat him twice and he is very talented. But I think Joshua is the second most talented heavyweight. He has a lot of potential, he’s very big and fast. But he needed that confidence.”

“I think the last fight showed Joshua that this is where he belongs. He may have lost to Usyk, but Anthony must think he is the best. Based on the way Joshua fought, I wouldn’t be surprised if he beats Usyk in the third fight,” Garcia said.

Joshua and Usyk had two head-to-head fights. The Ukrainian triumphed in both 2021 and 2022. Both confrontations lasted 12 rounds.

At the end of December, Joshua confidently defeated Otto Wallin, who refused to continue the fight after the 5th round, as part of the “Day of Reckoning”. Anthony stated that he was ready to fight the next fight with anyone.

On March 9, Joshua will fight former UFC champion Francis Ngannou. Usik will fight Tyson Fury for the title of absolute heavyweight champion on February 17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
