Bordeaux will file a new appeal against relegation to the third division of French football

Bordeaux “will continue to challenge the decision to transfer the club to the third division of French football, according to the team’s website.

In June, the Management Control of National Football Clubs (DNCG) announced the relegation of Bordeaux to the third division after taking stock of its financial situation. On Tuesday, the appeal committee of the French Football Federation confirmed this decision.

The club expressed its disagreement on this, noting that the shareholder presented a project that “professionals consider solid” and which “responds point by point to the requirements expressed previously”.

“Thanks to the collective efforts of Bordeaux, we have the means to participate in Ligue 2 next season and to achieve our goal of moving up to Ligue 1. The agreement meets the requirements laid down by the DNCG during the hearing on 14 June to secure funding in excess of 40 million euros,” the message read.

“This unjust decision is unacceptable and incomprehensible. I say very clearly to the supporters, to the people of Bordeaux: I will fight until the end, and that is why we have decided to appeal this unfair decision”, declared the president and owner of the club, Gérard Lopez.

At the end of last season, the Girondins were relegated to Ligue 2. Bordeaux is six-time champion of France, four-time winner of the country’s Cup.
