The Ukrainian continued her winning streak in tandem with Elena Ostapenko
Ukrainian tennis player Lyudmila Kichenok together with Elena Ostapenko from Latvia won the first round of the doubles tournament WTA 500 in Australian Adelaide.
It took Lyudmila and Elena 79 minutes to break the resistance of the tandem Jasmine Paolini (Italy) / Lyudmila Samsonova. They won both sets with the same score 6:4.
In the quarterfinals of the competition, Kichenok and Ostapenko will face the duet Alexandra Sosnovich / Katerina Siniakova (-/Czech Republic).
The Ukrainian and Latvian extended their unbeaten streak to five matches. Earlier this year they already managed to get their hands on a trophy by winning the WTA 500 tournament in Brisbane.
Let us remind you that this morning Lyudmila’s sister, Nadezhda Kichenok, also made it to the quarter finals of the doubles tournament in Australia, only in another city – Hobart.
Both sisters, as well as Angelina Kalinina and Marta Kostyuk, will perform in doubles at the first major of the year – Australian Open 2024. The main draw of the tournament will take place from January 14 to 28.
