Former PSG and Naples footballer Ezequiel Lavezzi admitted to a mental health center in Buenos Aires due to a suspected overdose of illegal substances, Marca reports.
Those around the Argentinian confirmed that “he has very serious drug problems”.
On December 20, Lavezzi suffered an accident while at his home in Punta del Este, Uruguay. There were rumors that the player had fought with his brother, as a result of which he was diagnosed with “a puncture wound in the abdomen and a fracture in the clavicle area.” Lucas Bertero, a criminal lawyer, said that in Punta del Este they decided to take Lavezzi to Buenos Aires in a medical plane. As he was dangerous for the crew, the footballer was injected with sleeping pills and put to sleep.
As a member of the Argentine national team, Lavezzi, 38, won the 2008 Olympic Games. He also became a silver medalist of the 2014 World Cup. In Europe, he is best known for his performances for the Italian Napoli and the French PSG. As a member of Les Parisiens, he won the national championship and the national Super Cup three times, won the Coupe de la Ligue twice and won the Coupe de France once. The striker retired in 2020.
