The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released its shortlist for the 2022 African Player of the Year award.
The list of nominees included: Riyad Mahrez (Algiers, Manchester City), Carl Toko Ekambi (Cameroon, Lyon), Vincent Abubakar (Cameroon, Al Nasr), Sebastian Allais (Ivory Coast, Borussia Dortmund), Mohammed Salah (Egypt, Liverpool), Naby Keita ( Guinea, Liverpool), Ashraf Hakimi (Morocco, Paris Saint-Germain), Edouard Mendy (Senegal, Chelsea), Kalidou Koulibaly (Senegal, Napoli), Sadio Mane (Senegal, Bayern Munich).
The winner will be announced at a ceremony in Rabat on July 21 after a vote by captains and coaches of African national teams, members of the CAF Technical Committee and selected media.
Mane became the winner of the nomination in 2019. In 2020 and 2021, voting was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
