Midfield Representative Ilzata Akhmetova Irakli Gegechkori spoke about the transfer of his client from “Krasnodar” V “Zenith”.
On Tuesday, Zenit announced the transfer of Akhmetov from Krasnodar. The contract with the 26-year-old footballer runs until the end of the 2025/26 season with an option to extend for another year.
— Krasnodar wrote in its statement on Akhmetov’s resignation that Ilzat activated the contract option and terminated it. Zenit said the clubs had reached an agreement on the transfer. How was it really?
— The clubs agreed on everything, the transfer was complete. Ilzat has not terminated his contract with Krasnodar,” Gegechkori told Sport24.
— Why couldn’t you agree with Krasnodar on an extension of the contract?
– There is never just one reason. It’s a combination of factors. Ilzat’s move from Krasnodar to Zenit can be compared to the move from Sevilla to Real Madrid or Barcelona. There’s not much to discuss here. Akhmetov joined one of the best teams in the RPL,” the player’s agent noted.
Akhmetov has played 21 matches this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
After 18 rounds, Krasnodar leads the Russian Championship standings with 38 points. Zenit is still second with two points difference. The season will resume in March.
