Sanya: Mudryk will fulfill his promise and become a world-class player

The Ukrainian has scored four goals for the Blues this season

Former Arsenal and Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna spoke out in defense of the Ukrainian winger Chelsea by Mikhail Mudrik. The Frenchman emphasized that he believes Mudrik “top player”.

“I expect Mudryk to deliver on his promise and develop into a world-class player. For me he is already a top player. He joined the club when there were a lot of problems. There was a lot of negative energy at Chelsea and the players suffered from a lack of confidence.”‌

“It’s not easy for a young player to come to a new club in a new country and perform straight away. It’s even more difficult to do this when you come to a club that pays a lot of money for you. People expect £100 million players to win games on their own, but that doesn’t happen in football.”

“He joined a team that had no confidence. Football is all about the atmosphere and you need all your players to be fit to get the best out of them.”

“I think Mudryk’s performances are getting better. He is starting to adapt to the league and is getting better every game. He needs time to develop, but he has shown some encouraging signs this season.”

Bacary Sagna started his career in Auxerre, but made a name for himself in the Premier League, where he played for Arsenal and Manchester City from 2007-17. In total, he has 267 matches (4 goals) and one Premier League championship. In addition, the defender was a main player for the French national team for many years, for which he played 65 matches in 2007-16.

Mudrik moved to Chelsea in January 2023 and signed an eight-and-a-half-year contract. Chelsea and Shakhtar agreed on the transfer of Mudryk for 100 million euros. This season, Mikhail has played 21 matches (four goals and two assists) for the Blues in all competitions.

Chelsea are in 10th place in the Premier League. Tomorrow, January 13, Mauricio Pochettino’s team will play against Fulham.
