“Semak doesn’t do anything for nothing.” Tikhonov appreciated Akhmetov’s move from Krasnodar to Zenit

Enisey head coach Andrei Tikhonov spoke on MATCH PRIME about his attitude towards the transfer of midfielder Ilzat Akhmetov from Krasnodar to Zenit.

On Tuesday, Akhmetov left Krasnodar for Zenit. The contract with the 26-year-old footballer runs until the end of the 2025/26 season and contains an option to extend for another year. The midfielder has been playing for Krasnodar since the summer of 2022.

— Akhmetov is one of the rare footballers with good technique. Can beat and perform effective movement. He has certain qualities that he plays on. Ilzat was not always the main player in Krasnodar, but Sergei Semak does nothing for nothing. This means that he understands that it is these qualities of Akhmetov that can help him,” Tikhonov said on the air of the “Off-season” show on MATCH PRIME.

Commentator Konstantin Genich agrees with the opinion that it is logical for Zenit to acquire Akhmetov.

— I’m not surprised by the transfer. Now Zenit needs Russian footballers, for Akhmetov himself this is a good thing to boost morale. Ilzat has the qualities Zenit need; there is a logic for the club in the transition,” he said.

After 18 days of the WORLD RPL, Zenit (36) is second in the standings, Krasnodar is in the lead (38 points). The season will resume in March.
