The first matches of the main draw of the Australian major took place
Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko made it to the second round Australain Open-2024. Another Ukrainian Daria Snigurdropped out of the competition at the start of the main draw.
In the first round, Tsurenko met with Lucia Bronzetti from Italy. Lesya lost the first set, but managed to snatch victory in the second. In the decisive game, both tennis players took almost all of the others’ serves. Tsurenko managed to win one “her” game, and, having made five breaks, achieved victory in the match.
Snigur lost to Alicia Parks from the USA. Daria confidently won the first set, but lost in the second. In the third game, the Ukrainian took the lead with a break, but did not maintain the advantage and, in the end, lost.
Let us remind you that Snigur made it into the main draw of the Australian “major” through qualification. In the final of the selection, Daria defeated Maddison Inglis from Australia.
On Monday, January 15, five Ukrainians will play their singles matches: Elina Svitolina, Dayana Yastremska, Marta Kostyuk, Angelina Kalinina and Yulia Starodubtseva. All fights will take place in the first half of the day, Kyiv time.
