Benzema suspended from Al Ittihad matches due to missing official team events

The Frenchman did not manage to return from vacation on time due to the cyclone

French striker Karim Benzema suspended from matches Al-Ittihad due to missing official team events.

The head coach of the Saudi club, Marcelo Gallardo, did not include the forward in the application for the team’s winter mini-tournament in Dubai. It is reported that Karim did not come from vacation to the official presentation of the club in the new year, which took place on January 12. The Frenchman previously missed several team training sessions in December before the official holiday weekend.

The striker’s entourage reported that the player was on vacation in the islands of Mauritius. Benzema was unable to fly to Saudi Arabia due to the cyclone.

The 36-year-old Frenchman moved to Al-Ittihad in July. Benzema made 20 appearances for the Saudi Arabian club in all competitions, scoring 20 goals and providing 5 assists.

Al Ittihad is ranked seventh in the Saudi Arabian Championship. Benzema’s team lost their last three matches, including to Al Nasr to Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane. The championship in Saudi Arabia has been suspended for the duration of the Asian Cup.
