Argentinian striker from Inter Miami Lionel Messi recognized as the best football player of 2023 according to the International Football Federation (FIFA).
The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony takes place on Monday in London. Messi, 36, is not present at the awards ceremony. Messi was recognized as the best footballer of the year by FIFA for the third time in history (since 2016) and for the second year in a row.
In 2023, Messi won the French championship with PSG and won the League Cup with Inter Miami. Earlier in 2023, Messi won the Ballon d’Or for the eighth time in his career.
French attackers were also nominated for this award. Kylian Mbappé (“PSG”) and Norwegian Erling Holland (“Manchester City”).
