“Minister Darmanen’s statements have serious consequences. Because of them, Karim Benzema is receiving threats in Saudi Arabia, where he currently works. Earlier it became known that Karim Benzema filed a complaint against the head of the French Interior Ministry.
Karim Benzema joined Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023 from Real Madrid as a free agent. This season, the Frenchman has played 11 matches for the Saudi club in all competitions, scoring six goals and providing three assists. It was reported earlier that due to the words of Minister Gérald Darmanin, the management of Al-Ittihad considered terminating the contract of its star striker.
