The list of representatives of Ukrainian football and sports who will visit the nearest tournament has become known. extraordinary congress of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) as important guests.
According to the vice-president of the organization Vadim Kostyuchenko, the event will be attended by Golden Ball winners Oleg Blokhin and Igor Belanov, head coach of the Ukrainian national team Sergei Rebrov, head of the National Olympic Committee Vadim Gutzeit, and. O. Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matvey Bedny.
The following personalities also confirmed their participation: ex-presidents of the FFU Valery Pustovoitenko, Grigory Surkis and Anatoly Konkov, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Youth and Sports, Lieutenant General Andrei Kozhemyakin, president of the National Committee for Sports of Disabled People of Ukraine Valery Sushkevich and the Commissioner of the President of Ukraine on issues rehabilitation of combatants Vadim Sviridenko.
Naturally, the congress will not be complete without the presence of the legendary football player, Golden Ball winner, and later head coach of the Ukrainian national team, Andrei Shevchenko, who is running for president of the UAF on an uncontested basis.
On December 12, Andrei was officially nominated as a candidate for the post of president of the UAF. The ex-coach of the Ukrainian national team accepted the offer to run for a responsible post, taking time to prepare a program and select a team.
Shevchenko’s candidacy was supported by at least 19 permanent collective members of the organization out of 27 (and according to Vice-President Vadim Kostyuchenko – 23). Shevchenko himself will be the only and uncontested candidate in the election of the head of the UAF.
The other day Shevchenko met with the heads of several regional football associations of Ukraine. The main topic of the conversation was the development of Ukrainian football, despite the full-scale war, as well as the restoration of trust in the Ukrainian Football Association. Shevchenko plans to hold the next meetings in Kyiv.
The UAF Executive Committee officially approved the holding of the Extraordinary Congress of the UAF on January 25, 2024. The meeting will take place in the Kiev House of Football, starting at 12:00. The congress agenda was approved in advance, one of the items of which is “On the election of the UAF President.”
