Palmeiras President Leila Pereira organized a press conference exclusively for female journalists.

As stressed by the club’s press service, he decided to fight gender inequality in football.

“It gives me great pleasure to be here on this undoubtedly historic day for our women. I don’t know of a single case in the world where only women were present at a press conference. When we had this idea, it was announced we have it , and, strangely, I heard a lot of questions: “Why is it only a girl?” I would say to men: don’t be hysterical (laughter). this since birth.

We don’t need privileges. We want to show that we are capable, we want to have a place in such a manly world of football. I always attended the meetings, and it was all men. I called a press conference at a football academy and I saw 30 boys and two or three girls. I feel alone, so we need to stop this.

It is not normal that a woman only runs a top club in South America. Why is this happening? Because we suffer from different limitations. We can be wherever we want, and that is the reason for our meeting today. Let this day be a milestone for us women to always stand up for ourselves. We can do it, we just want more opportunities,” the club’s official website quoted the president as saying.

Let’s remember that it is not possible to completely arrange an exclusive meeting of women with others. Aside from the women, the press conference was also attended by TV channel operators and male club employees.
