Athletistic/Football. Former head coach of the Russian national team Guus Hiddink made a comparison between former Zenit striker Andrei Arshavin and Argentine star player Lionel Messi.
“Of course, I could say that Arshavin is the Russian Messi! This comparison is completely accurate. I enjoyed every training and every match with him. Andrei is a real and strong personality, just like Lionel!” shared his opinion in a conversation with RB Sport.
Arshavin is the only Russian footballer of the 21st century nominated for the Ballon d’Or as the best player of the year. In 2008, he finished sixth in the final vote.
