Sergei Rebrov also came to the meeting with the heads of regional football associations
Former Ukrainian football player and ex-coach of the Ukrainian national team Andrey Shevchenko continues meetings with representatives of regional football associations.
The current head coach of the national team, Sergei Rebrov, was also present at the next meeting, which took place in Kyiv. According to Shevchenko, during the conversation the topics of “transparent” work of the UAF and international football standards are raised.
“We are talking about international standards, working with children, digitalization of the federation, which will create all the prerequisites for maximum transparency. It is important for me to hear the vision of Ukrainian specialists on the development of football during a full-scale war. After all, we must not only hold on to what we have, but also move forward, set high and ambitious goals.”
At the first meeting with the heads of several regional football associations of Ukraine, the main topic of conversation was the development of Ukrainian football, despite the full-scale war, as well as the restoration of trust in the Ukrainian Football Association.
On December 12, Andrei was officially nominated as a candidate for the post of president of the UAF. The ex-coach of the Ukrainian national team accepted the offer to run for a responsible post, taking time to prepare a program and select a team.
Shevchenko’s candidacy was supported by at least 19 permanent collective members of the organization out of 27 (and according to Vice-President Vadim Kostyuchenko – 23). Shevchenko himself will be the only and uncontested candidate in the election of the head of the UAF.
The UAF Executive Committee officially approved the holding of the Extraordinary Congress of the UAF on January 25, 2024. The meeting will take place in the Kiev House of Football, starting at 12:00. At the same time, the congress agenda was approved, one of the items of which is “On the election of the UAF President.”
A number of well-known sports officials and football functionaries are expected to attend the UAF executive committee: Golden Ball winners Oleg Blokhin and Igor Belanov, head coach of the Ukrainian national team Sergei Rebrov, head of the National Olympic Committee Vadim Gutzeit, etc. O. Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matvey Bedny and others.
