Dalakyan: I will return from Japan with my title

The Ukrainian will defend his WBA belt against Seyigo Akuya on January 23

Belt holder W.B.A. Ukrainian bantamweight Artem Dalakyan commented on the upcoming title defense against the mandatory challenger Seyigo Akuyi.

“I’m ready for this next challenge. I will definitely leave Japan with my title. I want to have the opportunity to face other champions and win the undisputed title.”

The fight between Dalakyan and Akuya is officially scheduled for January 23, 2024. It will take place in the Japanese city of Osaka. The Ukrainian arrived in Japan for the fight a few days ago.

Initially, the boxers were supposed to fight on the undercard of the Takuma Inoue-Jerwin Ancajas fight on November 15 in Tokyo. However, the fight was postponed indefinitely due to an injury suffered by Inoue Jr.

Dalakyan, 36, won the world title in 2018. Artem had his last fight in January 2023 against Costa Rican David Jimenez. The fight lasted all 12 rounds, the judges unanimously gave the victory to the Ukrainian.
