FPF meets with organizers to discuss the return of visiting fans

Entity wants the Super Cup, in Minas Gerais, which will have fans from São Paulo and Palmeiras, as an example for the possibility of ending single fans

Reinaldo Carneiro Bastospresident of São Paulo Football Federationmet this Friday morning, the 19th, with the leaders of the organized supporters of the Palm trees It’s from São Paulowhich face each other in Brazilian Super Cupat the beginning of February, to discuss a security plan for the game, which takes place in the city of Belo Horizontein Minas Geraiswith both fans present in the stands.

During the meeting, which was attended by Captain Felipe Longoof Military Police Shock Battalionand the delegate Cesar Saadafrom the Office for the Suppression of Offenses of Sports Intolerancethe president of the FPF admitted that he wants to use the game in Minas Gerais as an example to debate the end of single fans in classics in the state of São Paulowhich has been taking place since 2016.

The intention was to seek a commitment from those organized that the duel on February 4th would be free from off-field incidents in order to be able to resume the conversation with the state authorities regarding the return of visitors to São Paulo stadiums in matches involving Corinthians, GuaraniPalm trees, black Bridge, Santos and São Paulo. O public ministry, which every year renews the recommendation for matches with only fans, had no representatives at the meeting. At the meeting, there was a promise from organized fans that there would be no confusion in the Super Cup.

Last year, there was a similar discussion during the Paulista championshipwhen the game between Palmeiras and Santos, held at Morumbi, home of São Paulo, took place without serious problems, even with a single crowd. However, four days later, an ambush by Palmeiras against Corinthians caused the group debating the possibility to give up the idea. The game in Belo Horizonte presents an opportunity that is seen as unique by those who defend the return of visitors to stadiums in classics.

It will be the first time that two teams from São Paulo will face each other with both fans present at the stadium since 2016, when a series of violent clashes between Corinthians and Palmeiras fans after a classic in Pacaembu caused the determination to be put into effect. Authorities cling to the numbers to maintain the recommendation.
