Moreno led the Spanish national team from March to November 2019 after Luis Enrique resigned as head coach due to family reasons. Under his leadership, the Spaniards qualified for Euro 2020.

— How much is the level of the Spanish championship higher than the level of the Russian championship?
— I wouldn’t compare the leagues at all. In general, I don’t like to compare because I look at the league, the teams, the way they compete, because there are so many different factors. We can probably only compare leagues in terms of finances,” Moreno said in an interview with a correspondent.
“Sochi” announced the appointment of Moreno, 46, as head coach in mid-December.
