Russian goalkeeper “Panathinaikos » Yuri Lodygin explained why he decided to extend his contract with the Greek club.
Lodygin has been playing for the Athens club since the summer of 2022. This season he has played 11 matches and kept the goal intact seven times. Last October, the club announced the extension of Lodygin’s contract until June 2026.
— I wanted to play in a club that fights for the championship and can play in European competitions. I decided there was no point in joining a mid-tier team and then returning to the top team. I reasoned like this: I’m already there, I just have to wait a little. And I stayed. Fortunately, so far so good, I started playing more,” Lodygin said at the Championship.
Panathinaikos are second in the Greek championship standings with 41 points from 18 matches.
