Ex-Dynamo coach takes charge of Polish Zaglebie Sosnowiec
Head coach of Polish Zaglebie Sosnowiec Alexander Khatskevich said that he was in contact with management Vorskla before he moved to a new club.
“I had direct contact with the leadership of Vorskla before the New Year. I was directly told that the club was considering my candidacy and others. After the New Year, they contacted me and informed me that they had made a choice in favor of another specialist (Sergei Dolgansky). This is the choice of the club, which I respect, and I wish Vorskla only good luck. I’m always open to suggestions. And in this situation, it is very important for me that I learned about the appointment of Vorskla’s coach not from the press, but from the club’s leaders.”
“Yes, I took over a team that is in last place in the first league, but teams that are in first place rarely change coaches in the middle of the season. Moreover, we must take into account that a new investor has come to Zaglebie, and the situation with the club is changing. But the primary task, of course, is to maintain registration in the first league.”
“In any case, we have 15 more matches ahead, and there is a plan to improve our tournament position. And the main thing is that the new investor has an understanding of how to build the future of the club team.”
The ex-footballer and coach of Dynamo Kyiv took charge of Zaglebie in January. The 50-year-old specialist signed a contract until June 30, 2024.
Zaglebie Sosnowiec lost the last five matches of the championship, and won its last victory back in September. The next match in the Fortuna 1 League will be played by Khatskevich’s new club at home against Pruszkow on February 18.
