Al-Nasr announced the postponement of matches with two Chinese clubs due to the unavailability of Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo to participate in the matches.
On January 24, China’s Al-Nasr was scheduled to meet Shanghai Shenhua, led by Russian coach Leonid Slutsky. The Saudi club had a match scheduled for January 28 against Hangzhou Greentown.
“We are sad to announce that, unfortunately, for reasons beyond the control of Al Nasr, two matches scheduled for January 24 and 28 have been postponed to a date to be determined.
We came here to Shenzhen with great respect for Chinese football fans and especially for Cristiano Ronaldo fans. Considering this, apart from the close relations between Saudi Arabia and China, the club is ready to finish the training camp as planned in Shenzhen, a city that warmly welcomed us and showed so much love to us and to our captain. In addition, we have agreed with the organizer and promoter to schedule new matches as soon as possible.
Al Nasr Club has always demonstrated and proven its unconditional commitment to this event and came with its entire team, including Cristiano Ronaldo, to participate in this tour. “We love our Chinese fans and want to play for them as soon as possible,” Al-Nasr press service said in a statement.
Ronaldo is 38 years old, he started his career at Sporting Lisbon, then played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and in December 2022 he joined Al-Nasr. The Portuguese is a five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or, five times winner of the Champions League, European champion, winner of the Nations League, top scorer in the history of national teams, European championships and the Champions League.
