Athletistic / Football. UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin intends to ease restrictions on the participation of Russian youth teams in international competitions.
As the British publication The Telegraph reports, while a special military operation (SVO) is underway in Ukraine, we cannot talk about a complete return of all Russian teams and national teams. According to Čeferin himself, the easing of the ban on youth teams should aim to ensure that “the children of Russia are not brainwashed, instilling in them hatred of everything Western”, and also in order “not to punish children for what they are personally not guilty of”. all.”
On September 26, 2023, the UEFA Executive Committee decided to allow Russian national teams consisting of footballers and football players under the age of 17 to participate in their competitions. All matches of Russian teams must be played without the country’s flag, anthem and national uniform and on a neutral field.
Please note that other teams and national teams of Russia are not allowed to participate in official competitions due to SVO in Ukraine. Note that in this context, the RFU has been considering the possibility of joining the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for two consecutive years.
