The miners are doing everything possible to restore the high level of Ukrainian football
Sports director Shakhtar Darijo Srna commented on the appointment of Andrey Shevchenko to the post of head of the UAF. The Croatian functionary also emphasized that Shakhtar, along with other Ukrainian clubs, is obliged to work for the development and restoration of Ukrainian football.
“We, Ukraine and Ukrainians need to win on all fronts in order to achieve our goals. Ukrainian politicians must work to ensure that the country is in NATO, joins the European Union, wins the war against the aggressor – Russia, and returns the 1991 borders.”
“Shakhtar and everyone in Ukrainian football must work to return the Ukrainian championship to where it was – not 20th place in the ranking, but 11-12th. So that two teams play in the Champions League, so that Dnepr plays again in the final of the Europa League, so that Krivbass, Polesie, which invests a lot in development, and Rukh with its academy play in European cups. Therefore, we must all do everything together to prevent the fall of Ukrainian football.”
“This is our duty – the duty of Shakhtar, our president, who does not give up, does not speak empty words, but does the deed. And once again we need to thank all the club presidents who invest their money, soul, heart and will continue to invest in their clubs and the development of Ukrainian football.”
“Even in the current situation, when there is a war, Shakhtar buys serious football players. Polissya is strengthening, Krivbass is strengthening, Rukh too, Metalist 1925, Dynamo – this is a competition that will lift us up and make us all stronger together. Competition brings quality.”
“Today I also want to congratulate Andrei Shevchenko, the legend of Ukrainian football, our friend, who became the president of the UAF. And I am convinced that he and his team will also bring great benefits to the development of Ukrainian football, the development of children’s football and football infrastructure. In such a situation, we must be together and do everything for Ukraine’s victories everywhere.”
On January 25, Andriy Shevchenko was elected the new president of the Ukrainian Football Association by a majority vote of Congress participants.
Pavel Boychuk became the first vice-president of the Association. The current head coach of the Ukrainian national team, Sergei Rebrov, as well as Alexander Shevchenko received the positions of vice presidents.
In addition, members of the organization’s Executive Committee numbering 12 people were elected. In addition to the president and three vice-presidents, its members included: Sergei Vladyko, Alexander Kadenko, Evgeniy Dikiy, Nikolai Pavlov, Katerina Monzul, Andrey Poltavets, Artem Stoyanov and Alexander Zinchenko.
Recently, Shakhtar announced the launch of a long-term program to support children’s football schools in Ukraine. The first part of the project includes providing 1 million hryvnia in assistance to football schools and sections to continue their functioning.
The miner constantly helps the Ukrainian military. Thus, the club donated three Mavic 3 and Mavic 3T drones to the soldiers of the 59th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who are defending our country near Avdiivka, and also created the Shakhtar Social fund, which works on projects to support and assist Ukrainians affected by a full-scale war with Russia.
In the early hours of February 24, 2022, Russia launched rocket and air strikes on most Ukrainian cities and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia has continued for the 703rd day.
