Ancelotti: Lunin’s performance? No doubt he played well

Real achieved a strong victory over Las Palmas

Mentor Real Madrid Carlo Ancelotti spoke flatteringly about the performance of the Ukrainian goalkeeper Andrey Lunin in the match of the 22nd round of La Liga with Las Palmas (2:1).

“Lunin undoubtedly played well. He made a save early in the second half and played very confidently on the second floor,” the coach emphasized.

In the reporting match, Andrei made one save, and the percentage of accurate passes exceeded 90%. In total, this season the 24-year-old Ukrainian played 13 matches for his team, in which he missed 12 goals. In five cases, Lunin defended to zero.

Earlier it was reported that the coach was ready to make the final choice in favor of the Ukrainian among the two Blancos goalkeepers and give Andrey a place in the starting lineup until the end of the season. At the same time, Ancelotti, despite Kepa’s unconvincing performances, has repeatedly expressed his intention to use rotation between goalkeepers.

According to media reports, the club offered Lunin a new contract until 2030. It was previously reported that Real intends to retain the Ukrainian as a backup to main goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who is currently injured and will not play until the end of the season.

Real Madrid top Primera Liga, two points ahead of Girona. On February 1, Ancelotti’s team will play away against Getafe in the rescheduled match of the 20th round.
