The most important success of the Inzaghi team in the Derby of Italy
Inter beat on home field with minimal score Juventus in Derby d’Italia – 1:0.
The central match of the 23rd round – and, perhaps, of the entire second round of the championship – turned out to be predictably poor in goals and scoring chances in general. Suffice it to say that in six consecutive matches between these rivals no more than two goals have been scored per game.
The only goal came closer to the break. After Nicolò Barella’s cross and Benjamin Pavard’s roundhouse attempt, visiting defender Federico Gatti, trying to interfere with Marcus Thuram, put the ball into his own goal.
The Old Lady tried desperately to turn the tide of the game, but Simone Inzaghi’s well-trained team did not allow her to do this.
The victory over their closest pursuer allowed the championship leader to gain a four-point lead over Juventus.
In the next round, the Nerazzurri will play away against Roma. Allegri’s team will host Udinese.
