Without credentials, Lúcia Alves, mother of the Brazilian player, had problems entering her son’s trial venue
Mother of Daniel Alves, Lucia Alves appeared at the Barcelona Court this Monday, 5th, for the first day of the Brazilian player’s trial. The full-back has been in prison for a year, accused of sexual violence against a young woman in a nightclub in the Spanish city, in a case from December 2022.
Approached by journalists, Daniel’s mother stated that her son is “calm” regarding the trial and claimed that the athlete is “strong” to face the process, which should continue until next Wednesday.
Lúcia sent a video to the press stating that she was barred from Daniel Alves’ trial. According to the report, she was not accredited, but was able to enter the court after regularization.
“I have no words to express my feeling of abandonment, I despise my son’s own lawyers who ignored me and asked me not to participate in the hearing”, he told “Portal Leo Dias”.
As she was neither a lawyer nor a witness, Lúcia Alves needed a credential to enter the trial site. After explaining her situation, she got the pass in person to accompany her son.
During the young woman’s testimony, everyone had to leave the room. The Barcelona Court determined that the complainant’s testimony would be closed, including to the press. Her voice and face were distorted. At the end of last year, Lúcia published images of the complainant on her social networks. Attitude is a crime in Spain.
The accusation asks for 12 years in prison, but the prosecutor wants nine years and another 10 on probation, in addition to 150,000 euros in compensation. In one year of the case, Daniel Alves has already given five versions of what happened. He still tries to have the trial declared null and void.
