The Indomitable Lions lost to Nigeria in the 1/8 finals of the African Cup
Cameroon Football Federation (CFF) rejected the president’s resignation Samuel Eto’o.
The ex-Barcelona, Inter and Chelsea star said he intends to leave his position after the team’s unsuccessful performance at the African Cup of Nations. The functionary suggested that the entire leadership of the Federation follow his example. After discussion, the KFF Executive Committee decided to continue the work of the Federation in its current composition. The future of Cameroon head coach Rigobert Song will be determined at a later date.
Eto’o has recently faced allegations of corruption. The Athletic reported that it had accessed material that implicates the Cameroonian legend in match-fixing, abuse of power, physical threats, inciting violence and spreading false information in Cameroon. The case has been referred to FIFA’s Ethics Committee and is also being investigated by the Confederation of African Football.
The Cameroon team lost to Nigeria (0:2) at the 1/8 final stage. The Nigerians then beat Angola and will meet South Africa in the semi-finals.
