Midfielder “Zenith » Andrey Mostovoy spoke about the team’s preparation to resume the current RPL season.

— It was a difficult match, without a goal scored. There were no great moments – just us and them hitting the crossbar from set pieces. I would like to say a big thank you for this meeting – “Noah” is a very playful team. Apparently their coach plays the Spanish game: they never hit the ball, they always try to play. I really liked the way they played. It was quite interesting for us to play against them. This match allowed us to develop tactics, defensive block play, we did a lot of restructuring. Overall it was a good match.
— We had to play on both sides. Was it a coaching mindset? Did you know this in advance?
– This is not a problem at all – all our outside midfielders can play both on the right and on the left, there is no problem. And in official matches, it often happens that I can go right or left. And the coach, yes, he told us to change. But then we changed again and I found myself on the left.
— How satisfied are you with your game today?
– GOOD. Probably. There were moments when I could have scored: at the very beginning of the match, if Vanya Sergeev had driven a little harder, there would have been a goal into an empty net. There were also mistakes, but I think it was because of fatigue – I didn’t reach the ball because I was already exhausted, it was even difficult to pass the ball. But this is a normal process during training camps – you get tired and such matches take place against a background of fatigue. It’s very hard actually – our second training camp has started, the first four practices, a lot of sprints – everyone’s legs are full, it’s very hard. Overall, I played well, like the rest of the team today.
— On a scale of one to ten, how ready are Zenit for the season to resume?
“I think we are now reaching the equator of preparation: a training session and a half has passed and I am starting to feel better. It was harder in the first training camp, but now it’s easier. I think we are 65-70 percent ready,” Mostovoy said, as quoted by the Zenit press service.
Zenit’s second training camp in Qatar runs from February 1-14. The Bleus-Blancs-Bleus participate in the Equality Cup, in which they beat the Qataris Al-Duhail (2:0) on Monday. On February 8, Sergei Semak’s team will face China’s Shanghai Shenhua as part of the tournament, the meeting will begin at 17:00 Moscow time.
