Khristich’s team will soon have to fight with the same opponent in the Olympic qualification
Ukrainian national hockey team played a test match in preparation for the third round Olympic Games 2026 qualification. In a dramatic confrontation, the blue-yellows pulled out a strong-willed victory over South Korea in overtime – 4:3.
The Asian team, with which our team will very soon play in an official match, took the lead three times during the meeting. And three times the Ukrainians fought back – goals were scored by Evgeniy Ratushny, Alexey Vorona and Vitaly Lyalka.
The fate of the sparring was decided in overtime. The winning throw was scored by Daniil Trakht.
On February 3, Dmitry Khristich’s team began their preparatory training camp. In the third round of Olympic qualification, the blue-yellows will play with the teams of Poland, Estonia and South Korea. The matches of this quartet will be held in Sosnowiec, Poland, from February 8 to 11, 2024.
From the qualifying quartet, only one team will advance to the final round of Olympic qualification. The final round is another group stage. Only the best teams in each quartet will qualify directly for the Olympic tournament in Milan, which will take place in February 2026.
