General Director of Genoa: Malinovsky was approachable and did not ask for crazy money. It took us half an hour to negotiate with him

Blazquez is confident that the Ukrainian legionnaire will provide the Griffins with stability and quality in the coming years

CEO Genoa Andres Blazquez spoke about the circumstances of signing a full contract with Ruslan Malinovsky and the plans of the Genoese club for him.

“We had inquiries about Malinovsky. We talked to him, he feels good in Genoa and is very happy here. He was approachable and didn’t ask for crazy amounts of money. It took us half an hour to negotiate with him.”

“It is very important to find stability in the future, and Ruslan will give us it in the coming years in his position. This will give us stability, quality and a sense of belonging. For us, this is a choice of continuity,” the functionary emphasized.

Let us remember that at the end of January Genoa activated the clause on the early repurchase of the contract of the Ukrainian midfielder, who previously played for the Genoese team on loan from Marseille.

This season, the Ukrainian played 21 matches for the Griffins in all tournaments. Malinovsky has two goals and two assists. In all five matches in 2024, 30-year-old Ruslan consistently appeared in the starting lineup.

Genoa is in 11th place in Serie A. In the next match, Malinovsky’s team will host Atalanta on February 11.
