Athletistic / Football. General Secretary of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Maxim Mitrofanov believes that UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has a normal attitude towards Russia and does not want the RFU to stop be a member of the European organization.

“I personally spoke with Ceferin. His attitude is: ‘I don’t want to let Russia go anywhere, this is the last thing I will do.'” In general, the UEFA chief takes a protective stance and advocates dynamic development, but without shocks. He has a positive attitude towards Russia and a warm attitude,” Mitrofanov was quoted as saying by Sport-Express.

On September 26, 2023, the UEFA Executive Committee decided to allow Russian national teams consisting of footballers and football players under the age of 17 to participate in their competitions. All matches of Russian teams must be played without the country’s flag, anthem and national uniform and on a neutral field.

Please note that other teams and national teams of Russia are not allowed to participate in official competitions due to SVO in Ukraine. Note that in this context, the RFU has been considering the possibility of joining the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for two consecutive years.
